School meals, nice or not?
From my school days I have a vague memory of school dinners not being so bad. We used to have chips and gravy and some sort of meat. For puddings we would have angel delight, sponge cake and custard, or rolly poly cake. Nonetheless we still used to sing songs which would discriminate against the food, such as “Food glorious food, cold custard and mustard.”
Then at break we used to have a carton of milk – this was suggested by the prime minister at the time, Margaret Thatcher. It was to ensure we all got the recommended amount of calcium. However I hated milk because more often than not – it was warm as it had been sat in the sun! YUCK!
